Success
by Another Measure
Why
Social Business Enterprise is the way of the future.
Pure profitability isn't enough, what if we asked
businesses to add a social component to the question of what
marks their success? As reported in Forbes... "what if
we asked pharmaceutical companies to report on the number of
lives saved by their drugs every quarter, and food companies
reported the number of children saved from malnutrition? What
if companies issued separate stock based on social returns...".
From yoghurt that supports a village and then some, to venture
funding that has a distinctly commercial purpose, Social
Business Enterprise appears to be on the march.
It seems that more and more people are finding
that when the cost of a profitable bottom line is balanced
by a surplus social consciousness, the results can expand business
and improve lives at the same time. Now that's a provocative
idea if we ever heard one!
